Chimney Corners on Crystal Lake in beautiful Benzie County is a vintage vacation spring, summer, fall resort with a variety of lodging options and breakfast and special meals served during the peak summer months. The 75 year old historic lodge functions as a b&b with stone chimney and vintage bedrooms with two shared baths.
Chimney Corners has four cottages on Crystal Lake, 10 additional cottages across the road from the beach or on the bluff with views, and three apartments. The cottages range between 14 person cottages to 4 person cottages and all are modern and comfortable. This resort is decades in operation and the families that come back from year to year are treated like old friends. Their weekly rentals include a food credit which can be used in the cute beach dining room where breakfast and lunch is served in a casual beachside environment. In addition, this lovely resort, which has traditions going back to the early 1900's offers a fun beach BBQ on Wednesdays in the summer where great ribs, chicken, burgers and hot dogs are grilled and served with fresh salads and fruit. There are even Smores made at the firepit! On Fridays in the summer they serve their lodge dinner which is open to both guests and the public and is a feast with three entrees, salads of all kinds, fresh baked bread, seasonal, local vegetables, and a dessert table. 1,000 feet of private sandy beach is available to all guests. There are shallow and deep water rafts, paddleboats and rowboats for guests to use. Many guests bring their own ski boats or rent from a nearby marina. All cottages are weekly rentals from Saturday to Saturday in the summer months. During the spring and fall seasons the resort offers daily, weekly, weekend or midweek rentals based on availability. The resort is open from May through November and rates are according to season. This is definately a place for families and couples. Returning guests have been coming for years and the dedication to this resort spans generations. The Chimney Corners cookbook, by Mollie Rogers, the woman who owned and operated the resort for decades with husband Jim, is a must purchase gem. In its fifth edition in has the history of the resort, some fabulous recipes and old photos of Frankfort and Crystal Lake. Lodge nightly rentals are $80 per night while the cottage rentals range between $1575 per week for the smaller apartments and cottage, to $2500 -$2800 for medium cottages, to over $3300 for the largest cottages.
