Shanty Creek's $10 million renovation included the Lakeview Restaurant and Lounge including a spectacular view of Lake Bellaire. For prestigious resort dining in Northern Michigan The Lakeview Restaurant is among the favorites especially for conferences and large groups. On Sunday's the Lakeview serves a brunch buffet featuring scrambled eggs and bacon, omelets made to order, and prime rib and shrimp. The dinner menu specializes in steaks with a variety of preparations and sauces. The Lakeview Lounge is also an option for a less formal meal and includes burgers and sandwiches and a wide selection of appetizers.

Pearl's has weekly events and happy hours between 4 - 6, as well as Sunday Brunch. Crawfish Fest happens in early May though mid June with fresh crawfish flown in from the Bayou.

Peterson's is a charming out of the way eatery with a full bar and smoking and non-smoking rooms. On Sunday's sports are playing on their big screen tv. The restaurant is decorated in historical political newsprint, both Democratic and Republican. Generous portions is the menu's main rule. They serve personal pizza's, ribs, chicken, fresh fish, salads, sandwiches and more. A succulent marinated chicken breast sandwich and a delicious potato wedge appetizer are just a few of the many hearty menu offerings.

This rustic cottage made elegant by the food and service is a star among Northern Michigan culinary offerings. Serving three-course dinner specials on Monday through Thursday and a three-course Sunday Brunch as well as special dinners, the selection of food includes creative appetizers like baked mussels with asiago dijon crust and madeira cream, and grilled venison sausage; salads like the romaine with Roquefort dressing, dried cherries and walnuts; and entrees like the wild mushroom strudel, veal scallopini with wild mushroom chasseur and herb crumb crusted rack of lamb with port rosemary demi. Yum. There's also a fine selection of cheese and premium wines by the glass as well as by the bottle. The menu changes seasonally.

After boating or sunning in the Elk Lake Area, come to Siren Hall for a sophisticated seafood experience. Oysters from both coasts and fresh regional seafood are elegantly and creatively prepared here. The restaurant is beautifully designed with a Nordic feel. Menu items that looks wonderful include the baked polenta crispy goat cheese cake in a spicy tomato sauce, the peel-n-eat shrimp in many flavors served on chilled ice, sesame seared tuna with avocado, ginger and wasabi aioli, mussels served with a variety of sauces, the Fruit De Mer Tower with oysters, clams, mussels, shrimp with sauces for appetizers. If you have room for more, the entrees include a jumbo lump crab cake with potato leek hash, napa cabbage, roasted corn, lemon caper dill aioli and tomato dijon beurre blanc - or - blackened whitefish with a roasted corn pepper tasso salad and baby dill slaw. They also have something for meat eaters including braised lamb shank, bbq smoked pork short ribs, and sauteed veal scallopini. Vegetarians have a selection of many pastas and choices from the appetizer section.

Highly touted by The New York Times and The Chicago Tribune this is the best in Michigan dining. From service that is amazing to exquisitely prepared courses using the finest local ingredients, this special place is within the most unlikely small town setting, which makes it all the more charming. The three course menu consisting of Amuse Bouche, flavors of soup in a tiny cup to whet the appetite, lovely appetizer course and main entree course make this a must try destination. The wine cellar is among the best anywhere. The desserts are also heavenly.
